The LGBTQ+ community has historically faced many barriers to accessing safe and affirming therapeutic services. In a time where many LGBTQ+ clients are experiencing threats to their rights outside of therapy, it is especially important to focus on ethical and safe clinical treatments. This training with review ethical considerations for LGBTQ+ clients including writing letters for gender affirming treatment, minimizing microaggressions in the therapeutic relationship, and utilizing evidence-based affirming interventions. This training welcomes all therapists with any amount of experience working with LGBTQ+ clients. 3 CEU’s available for LCSW, LMSW, LMFT, LPC, and Case Managers.
Presenters
Julia Core, PsyD. is an EMDR Consultant and is also trained in working with Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples. She brings humor and a spirit of collaboration into her work. With a passion for justice and her experience as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, she enjoys working with diverse clientele and LGBTQ+ folks. When not working, Julia loves hiking with her two dogs, camping with her partner, and any other opportunity to get outdoors. Julia completed her doctoral dissertation on sexual assault and consent at Azusa Pacific University in 2020.
