Derek is a Licensed Professional Counselor who works with adults navigating life’s challenges, difficult experiences, and changes in their relationships and sense of self. He believes therapy should be a place where people feel heard, understood, and accepted without judgment. He values building a strong therapeutic relationship where clients can have honest conversations, explore difficult questions, and feel supported as they work toward the changes they want to make.
Derek uses Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients better understand themselves, identify what matters most to them, and work through the barriers that get in the way of living the life they want. His approach combines empathy and support with thoughtful challenges to beliefs and patterns that may no longer be serving them. He aims to help clients develop healthier ways of coping with life’s challenges and make progress toward goals that are meaningful to them.
